Explore, standardize, and advance together in AORFB technologies.

The aqueous organic redox flow battery (AORFB) ecosystem will convene in Paris on April 24 and 25, 2025, for an exceptional workshop at the Campus des Cordeliers, Sorbonne University. This event aims to bring together researchers, engineers, and industry professionals working on AORFBs, covering all aspects from fundamental research to prototype development.

The workshop is designed to:

  • Accelerate scientific discoveries: Explore new chemistries and conduct in-depth analyses of the stability of organic redox-active materials.
  • Standardize methodologies: Establish procedures to measure and compare performance metrics (capacity, energy, power) and assess degradation mechanisms.
  • Facilitate industrial transition: Share industrial feedback and address challenges related to scaling up technologies.
  • Encourage innovation: Present new technologies such as redox targeting, hydrogen production, and CO₂ reduction.

The program will include:

  • Identification of new chemistries and evaluation of their durability.
  • Accelerated aging tests to identify promising materials.
  • Development of predictive tools to estimate lifespan and performance.
  • Methods to determine the state of charge (SOC) and state of health (SOH) of batteries.
  • Technological advancements and emerging applications.

In this inaugural edition, special attention will be given to harmonizing approaches in evaluating AORFB performance. Robust methodologies for testing stability, performance, and aging mechanisms will be discussed and shared.
