DFT Days 2026

The DFT Days primarily bring together the European research community working on conventional Density Functional Theory (DFT), with links to the transatlantic research community. Historically held in Tübingen, Germany, the 2025 edition took place in Nancy, highlighting the importance of the French research community working in this field.

The 2026 DFT Days were held from September 9 to 11 at the Cordeliers Campus in Paris. The event brought together around 50 participants, representing an increase of approximately 30% compared with previous editions, reflecting its growing success. Participants came mainly from Europe (France, Germany, England, Finland and Switzerland), with two speakers from US universities. The event also welcomed three participants from industry.

Presentations covered advances in conventional density functional theory methods, addressing both fundamental aspects of the statics and dynamics of homogeneous and inhomogeneous systems, as well as selected applications. A highlight of the event is the annual cross-disciplinary seminar delivered by an invited speaker from outside the DFT community. This year, we were delighted to welcome mathematician Mathieu Lewin, who shared his mathematical perspective on DFT.
