BAT360°: Looking back at the first PEPR Batteries summer school

A 360° view of battery challenges

From 1 to 4 June 2026, PEPR Batteries held its first summer school, BAT360°, in La Grande Motte, France. Designed for the programme’s PhD students and postdocs, the school offered a 360° view of the scientific, technological and societal challenges of batteries. It combined lectures, specialised seminars and discussions with experts.

A comprehensive programme

BAT360° covered six major themes :

✅ Energy transition and electrochemistry
✅ Lithium technologies (Li-ion, all-solid-state)
✅ Power devices (sodium, supercapacitors)
✅ Stationary storage and aqueous batteries
✅ Modelling and artificial intelligence
✅ Advanced characterisation

More than 20 experts from partner laboratories (CEA, CNRS, universities) took part. Participants deepened their knowledge and exchanged ideas during seminars and poster sessions.

Highlights

✅ Leading experts in French battery research
✅ Interactive format: lectures, seminars and informal discussions
✅ Networking: bringing together the community of PEPR Batteries early-career researchers
