The PEPR–Batteries
A multitude of projects

Research in Service of the National Battery Strategy
The PEPR Batteries is part of the National Battery Acceleration Strategy, which is structured around four priority objectives: developing the national supply chain from the extraction of strategic materials to recycling by supporting research, innovation, and the industrialization of relevant projects; promoting the most environmentally responsible and virtuous batteries; supporting the demand for batteries, particularly in the transportation sector; and addressing the recruitment and training needs of the industry.
To address these priorities, the PEPR Batteries aims to encourage and support upstream research activities with low or intermediate technological maturity levels (TRL range 1 to 4). It seeks to develop new generations of batteries that are more efficient, safer, lower cost, and longer-lasting than those currently on the market.
With a total budget of €50.5 million from France 2030, this program, led by the CNRS and the CEA, involves research teams from universities, Grandes Ecoles, and national organizations across the entire French territory. It currently includes 13 R&D projects and 2 equipments projects.
